Gardaí in Ballybofey are appealing to the public to keep a lookout for a discarded black wallet following a recent burglary.

A house in the Blue Cedars estate was broken into in the early hours of this morning.

At approx 3.30 am, a resident in the house disturbed an unknown man in their utility room. The man then fled the scene with a black wallet and a set of keys. No damage was caused to the property as the door had been unlocked at the time.

The car keys were later located on a roadway near the house.

The wallet, which contained a debit card and a driving licence, has yet to be found.

Gardaí are calling on people in the area near Blue Cedars to keep an eye out for the black wallet if it was discarded in the estate or a nearby garden.

"We are asking people not to touch the wallet but to contact gardaí immediately," said Sgt Charlene Anderson.

Anyone who can assist with the investigation is asked to contact Letterkenny Garda Station: 0749167100
