The 13-year-old student who entered Kenosha's Roosevelt Elementary School on Thursday morning carrying a backpack and duffel bag has been charged with one count of terroristic threats.

Kenosha police said Friday that the student was arrested Thursday afternoon at his home after he surrendered.

The teen appeared in court Friday morning. Reporters were not allowed in the court room.

Police said detectives executed a search warrant of the suspect's home after the arrest and found several airsoft replica handguns and a replica rifle. They said they did not find any real firearms during the search.

A news release said the suspect's mother was cooperative during the investigation and said the suspect does not have access to firearms. Police have not made any other arrests in connection to the incident.

In an interview with detectives, the suspect told police he claimed to go to the school to sell candy, but later told a social worker that he went to the school "with the intent to scare students."

Police said the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Kenosha police at 262-605-5261.

There is no school at Roosevelt on Friday, which was previously scheduled for a staff workday.
