KARIMNAGAR, JUNE 6, 2023: It is a great relief for lakhs of school going students, as the Telangana State Government has announced ‘No Bag day’ on every fourth day Saturday from the academic year 2023-24 onwards.

Accordingly, the Director of School Education issued orders in this regard on Tuesday. During this academic year, the students would have 10 bagless during this academic year. On ‘No bag day’, the management of schools would organise cultural programmes, debates, quiz, workshops and other recreational programmes for their entertainment and relaxations as per the directions of SCERT.

The government had also made it mandatory for all schools to conduct Yoga and Meditation daily in school during the morning assembly or after assembly in the classroom for five minutes every day. The academic year would have a total of only 205 working days.

The Telangana government which released the Academic calendar for the year 2022-23 stated that the schools would reopen on June 12 after summer vacation and the last working for this academic year is April 23, 2024. The summer vacation would be from April 24, 2024 to June 11, 2024. The Dasara vacations from October 13 to 25, 2023 (13 days) and Sankranthi vacations from January 12 to 17, 2024 (6 days) and Christmas holidays for Missionary schools from December 22 to 26, 2023 (five days).

The syllabus for the tenth class should be completed by January 10, 2024 and conduct revision classes and pre-final exams and prepare the students for the SSC board examinations. For the First to ninth class, the syllabus should be completed by February 29, 2024.

The Formative Assessment-1 would be conducted on July 31, 2023, FA-2 on September 30, Summative Assessment-1 from October 5 to 11, 2023, FA-3 on December 14, FA-4 on January 29, 2024 for tenth class students and February 2, 2024 for first to ninth class. The SA-2 for first to ninth classes would be conducted from April 8 to 18, 2024. The pre-finals for tenth classes would be completed in February 2024 and SSC examinations in March 2024.

Besides, the government had also instructed the schools to allocate at least three periods in a week for physical and health education for UPS and HS and five periods in week for primary schools. There should be weekly two periods a week for work and computer education and two periods a week for art and cultural education.
