A wallet isn’t just a place to store cash and credit cards — it’s a daily essential, right alongside your smartphone. But, a bulky wallet can weigh you down, cause wear and tear on your pants, and could even cause back pain. For this guide, we researched and tested top-rated wallets designed to keep money and cards safe without adding extra bulk. Whether you’re looking to upgrade from a thick wallet you’ve kept for decades or need a thoughtful gift for a loved one, we handpicked options that are durable, stylish and functional.

Many of our top picks include RFID-blocking technology to safeguard your credit cards from digital theft. For those prone to misplacing their wallets, we’ve also highlighted brands that offer smart wallets, AirTag wallets or sell slim tracking cards. These features allow you to easily locate your wallet using Apple’s Find My or Google’s Find My Device networks. According to our testing data and expert analysis, these are the best wallets for men.

Crafted from premium full-grain leather and handmade in Spain, this wallet stands out from the competition because it combines refined craftsmanship with practical design. Harber London’s bifold comes in a wide range of classic shades from tan and deep brown to bold navy and burgundy. The leather develops a nice patina over time further enhancing its look.

The wallet features RFID protection and a secure magnetic closure, which gave our tester some peace of mind. With four card slots roomy enough to hold two cards each and two concealed pockets — one with a pull tab for easy access to more cards — it offers plenty of space without bulk. However, it’s worth mentioning it doesn’t have a transparent window for your ID like most bifolds do.

“The wallet fits comfortably in my front pocket and I love that I can keep cash flat without having to fold it in half like previous slim wallets I’ve used,” said our tester. “Plus, the concealed pocket for an AirTag is a clever touch.”

Capacity: 12 non-embossed cards | Features: Cash slot, dual coin pockets | Dimensions: 3.03" x 3.81"

For those on a budget, this wallet from COZSEDY offers exceptional value despite its thoughtful features and leather design. Inside, this wallet features a practical, tiered layout with three card pockets on each side, including a windowed pocket for when you need to flash your ID. The parallel card slot design on both sides of this wallet adds some thickness, though — measuring 0.7 inches when fully loaded.

Fortunately, our tester remarked that the design makes it easy to access your cards quickly and easily.

“There’s a full-length cash pocket to keep bills organized, and inside that are two small pockets on each side,” he said. “I use it for an AirTag but you could use either for a few coins or a house key.”

Each pocket is lined with a lightweight, durable black fabric. Our analysis found the wallet’s stitching sturdy, but the leather is slightly more flexible and thinner than the other options we tested. On the plus side, the wallet comes in a sleek white gift box and a nice-looking drawstring bag — making it a great option for gifting.

Capacity: 14 non-embossed cards | Features: ID window, cash slot, coin pocket | Dimensions: 4.25" x 3.3"

The sleek and durable Cardholder Pro from Ekster is crafted from 100% recycled aluminum and features a patented card-ejection mechanism that allows easy access to your cards with a simple button press. Compared to other metal wallets, which oftentimes are limited to four to six cards, this one securely stows up to seven non-embossed cards.

Ekster offers the RFID-blocking wallet in a wide range of colors. The brand sells a wide variety of accessories that are compatible with the wallet, including trackers, a coin drawer and a money clip. This wallet includes an elastic strap to stow cash or receipts, which, unfortunately, collects dust and lint pretty easily. Regardless, this is the slimmest and sleekest cardholder you can buy to hold the most amount of cards.

Capacity: 7 non-embossed cards | Features: Elastic money band, several accessories available for separate purchase | Dimensions: 4.25" x 2.4"

Nomad has built a solid reputation for crafting high-quality leather goods and accessories. Their rustic brown Horween Leather collection includes cases to protect your iPhone or AirPods, Apple Watch straps, and, of course, wallets like this one, designed with premium materials and strong attention to detail.

The first time I handled the wallet, I was struck by the smooth, rich feel of the leather. The stitching around the seams added to its appeal, and the wallet exudes quality with its unmistakable leather scent. The back of the wallet has a convenient pocket where I kept my most-used card for quick access. Inside, there are four card slots, a cash slot and two additional pockets for less frequently used cards that I used for my insurance card and coffee punch card.

If you prefer a traditional, bifold-style wallet, I can't recommend the Nomad wallet enough. I love that it omits logos and branding and flaunts a spacious but sleek classic design.

Capacity: 10 non-embossed cards | Features: Cash slot, 4 single card slots, 2 concealed pockets, exterior pocket, coin pocket | Dimensions: 4.25" x 3.15"

For the person who always misplaces or leaves their wallet behind, the Groove Smart Wallet Trace is a wise choice. Unlike other wallets that require separate tracker cards or AirTags, this one has a built-in tracker, making it a more discreet option. It syncs with Apple’s Find My network and functions nearly identical to an AirTag without adding any bulk. So, you can make your wallet ring from up to 100 feet away, view its location on your iPhone, receive a notification when you leave your wallet behind and share its location with up to five friends or loved ones.

As someone who lives in a three-story townhome and regularly doesn’t remember where I placed my wallet, I was a big fan of the Groove Wallet. It felt very futuristic to be able to say, “Siri, find my wallet.” It was easy to set up, has a durable money clip and holds six non-embossed cards. My only complaint is that if you have a few thicker stainless steel or embossed cards, the wallet can jam if you attempt to store more than five cards.

Overall, I loved its slim design and convenient smart features. I was also impressed that it’s waterproof and doesn’t require charging.

Capacity: 6 non-embossed cards | Features: Money clip, Find My functionality | Dimensions: 3.8" x 2.5"

This slim zip-close wallet is perfect for those who prefer front-pocket carry and want added security from a zipper. It measures just 4 x 3 inches and is primarily crafted from leather and recycled polyester. Designed for vertical orientation, this pouch-shaped wallet features two internal stretch pockets, offering flexible storage for various items.

After two years of use, I've found this wallet to be incredibly versatile. It has accommodated a variety of items, from everyday essentials like my house key, cards and cash, to medication or travel accessories like earplugs and memory cards. I've even used it to store dog waste bags for walks with my pets. However, it’s not the best for storing cash since you’ll have to fold bills in thirds to fit.

Capacity: 12 non-embossed cards | Features: Key holder, zipper, three inner pockets | Dimensions: 4" x 3"

This premium, American-made leather wallet comes in classic black or brown. Its sleek design includes an AirTag pocket, RFID-blocking technology and a convenient money clip. During my tests, what I liked most about the wallet was its sliding pop-up cardholder, which fans out 4 to 6 cards, so I could quickly find whatever one I was looking for. There’s also a fold-over flap with two pockets to make it easy to grab my ID or my current favorite cash-back card.

While the Ekster wallet offers a convenient and secure way to carry an AirTag, its $99 price point, without an included AirTag, might be a deterrent for some. The wallet effectively protects the AirTag and doesn't significantly impact its sound. However, for added security, I would prefer a more concealed AirTag slot to discourage potential thieves.

Capacity: 6 non-embossed cards in spring-loaded section, 2 additional cards in leather side | Features: AirTag holder/rear pocket, elastic money band, quick-access card section | Dimensions: 4.1" x 2.5"

To determine the best men’s wallets, each option on this list was rigorously tested and evaluated. First, we examined the type and size of each wallet, looking for designs that balance storage capacity with a comfortable fit, whether in a front or back pocket. Materials were assessed for quality, durability and aging potential. Some wallets we considered for inclusion had been tested for as long as three years.

We also focused on storage capacity and overall functionality. Wallets were loaded with cards, cash and trackers (when possible) to evaluate ease of access and organization. Durability was tested by subjecting wallets to routine use, ensuring they could withstand daily wear and tear.

Each wallet’s features and aesthetic appeal were ranked to offer a comprehensive view of its design, noting styles, color options and the added utility of elements like RFID blocking and additional pockets from ID windows and coin pouches to slots for trackers.

Before picking a wallet, there are a few things to consider to best match your lifestyle and how often you’ll likely need to search for your wallet.

✔️ Storage needs: Think about what you carry daily. If you tend to use credit cards more than cash, look for a wallet that prioritizes card storage with features like pull tabs, a push-button or sliders to fan out your cards. Some options — especially bi-folds — are better suited for holding cash and can easily store bills flat, while others, like cardholders, have slim profiles that rely on elastic bands or money clips. For those who like to keep change on hand, a wallet with a zipper will probably be better suited for your needs.

✔️ Tracking features: If you’re prone to misplacing your wallet, a wallet with a secure pocket for a tracker like an AirTag can come in clutch. Look for wallets with dedicated compartments or hidden slots that keep trackers in place discreetly. A few wallet manufacturers, including Ekster, Nomad and Groove sell their own trackers as well as AirTag holders you can easily affix to their wallets. Just be sure to purchase the correct tracker that works with your Android or iOS (Apple) smartphone.

✔️ Material: The wallet’s material impacts both style and durability. Leather is arguably the most popular choice, given its durability and timeless look, but leather wallets are typically higher priced. Faux leather is budget-friendly and maintains a leather-like appearance, though it may not last as long. Metal options like aluminum or titanium add durability and appeal more to minimalists. Check for additional color and pattern options to find the wallet that suits your personality best.

✔️ Security: “Our credit cards store valuable personal and financial information that is potentially at risk of being stolen by hackers,” said Test Engineer, Alec Scherma. While Scherma said the risk of this isn’t high, an RFID-blocking layer can give you peace of mind by blocking external signals. “It does this through a thin layer of carbon fiber or aluminum that’s hidden under the outer material, preventing any radio frequency signals from reading your card,” he said.
