Memorial Day weekend often marks the start of many summertime activities like pool parties and lake weekends. If you are still shopping for a new swimsuit, today's post is for you as I am sharing some flattering tankinis for women in their 50s and beyond that I think you all will love.

I typically lean towards a one-piece swimsuit because they are modest and provide the coverage I’m looking for. After trying a few new swimsuits on a recent beach trip, I fell in love with the convenience and practicality of wearing a tankini. Not only do they provide the same amount of coverage as a one-piece, but changing in and out of your swimsuit and restroom breaks are exponentially easier!

Before you go, make sure to check out these posts full of swimsuit recommendations:

We’ve always heard that black is slimming, and I tend to agree with this statement! A black swimsuit is not only classy and timeless but generally very flattering. I think this holds true for this adorable one-shoulder checkered tankini I recently wore to the beach.

I loved the fun little touch and character the checkered bow added to the top. Plus, the ruching along the sides and tummy area does a fantastic job at helping to hide any lumps, bumps, or rolls you may want to distract from.

I know many of us are looking at how much coverage a pair of bottoms provide when shopping for swimsuits, so I wanted to show you a view from the back.

I’ve seen this bag grow in popularity on social media over the last few weeks and for good reason! It is a beautiful straw bag, and I was impressed with the quality since it is such an affordable price. It would also be a fantastic work bag for carrying your laptop and files to the office or the coffee shop.

The second tankini I brought with me was this ruffled one-shoulder in a fabulous hot pink. You all know I LOVE bright colors, and this one was calling my name. I think it really pops against a faux tan. This swimsuit comes in 30 colors and patterns if you want a different color!

The thin strap on the other side is removable, but I liked how it looked, so I left it on. This tankini's ruched front is great for camouflaging any problem areas you want to hide. I also thought the bottoms had adequate coverage, so I didn't feel like I had to pull or tug to ensure my backside was covered.

I love how this bag is large enough to carry all of my beach and pool necessities without screaming beach bag! If you have a beach trip coming up, this tote could double as a purse and your beach bag. The bamboo-inspired handle is SO cute, and the bag is neutral enough to go with any swimsuit or outfit!

This next tankini is a great contender if you don't love form-fitting swimsuits. This top could pass as a sporty tank top, making it ideal for activities like going to the water park or chasing your grandkids around a splash pad!

Even if you can find a swimsuit that fully covers your bottom (which can be hard to do these days), it still takes a lot of self-confidence to walk out in front of a crowd in a pair of bikini bottoms. If you struggle with this, you may benefit from purchasing a pair of swim shorts! Like the top, they would also be perfect for outdoorsy water activities like paddle boarding or kayaking.

I wanted to show you a back view to see how nice this tankini top looks. I loved that it was a little longer than a traditional tankini.

This next beach bag can hold SO much stuff while still looking on-trend! The one downside is that small things tend to fall to the bottom in giant bags like this and get buried, so I would put things like my headphones, chapstick, car keys, etc., into a small cosmetic bag or pouch.

I chose this next swimsuit because I knew the two-toned construction of the tankini top would create a slimming illusion, especially in combination with the flattering ruching along the sides. It also has a keyhole cut out in the middle.

This top would work well for you if you have a small to medium-sized bust. In my opinion, it doesn't have enough support to lift a larger bust, especially if you plan on jumping or diving into the water or waves.

I chose to cross the straps in the back, but you can also wear them uncrossed if you prefer. I like that they are adjustable.
